Get in Touch

This is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, release status, charges, or the existence of a booking photo. The offices below are the proper places to ask about Haywood County records, court matters, emergencies, and city incidents.

Start With the Right Office

Choose the record holder before calling. HCSO and HCDC handle county custody and county-held records. A city police department handles the incident record it created. The courts handle case dates and dispositions. NCDAC, BOP, and ICE cover separate custody systems.

Not a government contact. Messages sent to this private site do not reach HCSO, HCDC, a city police department, a Clerk, NCDAC, or emergency services. Call 911 for an emergency.

Haywood Sheriff and Jail

Haywood County Sheriff’s Office
1620 Brown Avenue
Waynesville, NC 28786
Communications and non-emergency: 828-452-6666
Front office: 828-452-6768

Regular detention office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; the facility operates continuously. For current county inmate information, call 828-452-6670 and select option 1. HCSO says this line can provide charges, bond amounts, and residential information and updates every 15 minutes. It does not state that the line provides a booking photograph.

HCSO public-records request is the route for a booking record or photo request. The form asks for a detailed description and delivery method. No booking-photo fee or fixed turnaround is posted.

City Police Contacts

Waynesville Police Department
9 South Main Street, Suite 100
Waynesville, NC 28786
Non-emergency: 828-456-5363
Dispatch is listed as 24/7; office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Waynesville’s department page includes a public-records request link. The city has no separate jail identified in the research, so a person held in county custody routes to HCDC and HCSO.

Canton Police Department
The official materials show a temporary police location at 105 Summer Street and a town contact block at 85 Summer Street, Canton, NC 28716. Listed numbers include 828-648-2376 for the Chief and 828-648-2363 in the town contact block. Call before visiting because both addresses appear in the source.

Clyde
The town’s official contact page lists P.O. Box 386, Clyde, NC 28721, and directs criminal law-enforcement questions to HCSO at 828-452-6666. No municipal police department or city records unit was identified.

Courts and State Custody

The Haywood County court page is the local route for court resources and dates. Use North Carolina eCourts or the Clerk for case information and disposition. HCSO cannot replace the court record.

The NCDAC offender search covers state prison, probation, and parole records, not county jail data. The federal BOP and ICE locators answer federal custody questions. A private search result is not a substitute for any of these offices.

Records Request Checklist

When asking for a booking record or photo, identify the full legal name, approximate booking date, arresting agency, booking number or case number if known, and the format requested. Ask whether a photo is maintained and releasable, and ask the office to identify any fee, redaction, or withholding authority. Do not send emergency or sensitive personal information to this private site.
